McDonald's Australia and New Zealand released a set of Tamagotchi toys in 2010 for no particular reason. It was probably because many Asian countries were doing the 2009 Tamagotchi TV show set from Japan and they wanted to compete, or they wanted to do their first Tamagotchi set since they never got the 1997 series of Tamagotchi toys from the US.
